DAILY SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING MINI-LESSONS (DR. SPURLOCK)

Our   scholars will participate in daily activities to strengthen their social   emotional skills for navigating our rapidly changing world in school, sports,   home and workplace. 

We will delve into the concept of improving our living spaces in the realms of: (1) Community, (2) Active Listening, (3) Respect, (4) Regulating Emotions, (5) Empathy, (6) Communication,
(7) Integrity, (8) Mindfulness, (9) Goals, and (10) Resilience. There will be dedicated lessons as well as integrated lessons in the group project work. 

      

SAT   | TOEFL | REGENTS TEST PREP SESSIONS (PROFESSOR ROJAS)

Our incredibly accomplished professors will offer college readiness preparation for both SAT and TOEFL sessions. While the high school students are engaged in college readiness test
preparation, the middle school students will be participating in general study skills and Regents assessments test taking skills.

INNOVATIVE BOLD IDEA RESEARCH PROJECTS: 

SCIENCE/TECHNOLOGY (PROF. WALDRON)

RESEARCH (PROF. TIMKO)

Scholars will spend most of their academic time involved in an innovative world problem solving research project. Our advanced science, English, and research professors will lead
our scholars in the skills of formulation of original ideas, identifying world problems, identifying/synthesizing credible articles, books, research journal articles, and other reference
materials to establish background knowledge. Next student teams will form hypotheses, use quantitative/qualitative data analysis, create data illustrations, formulate conclusions and recommendations on how to innovatively solve the problem. Additionally, scholars will read and listen critically and analytically, write clearly and coherently in varied academic
formats to communicate persuasively across a variety of contexts, purposes, audiences, and media. Scholars will use online databases, credible news articles, data analysis
software, word processing tools, and multimedia presentation tools and tools that employ the conventions of ethical attribution and citation.

 STUDENTS WILL NEED TO BRING: Students will need to bring enough comfortable clothes for 8 days and nights, swim wear, flip flops, beach towel and closed toe athletic shoes. Most student clothing and shoes will need to be comfortable enough for indoor sports, climbing, and for occasional outdoor activity (weather permitting). For classes and projects, students will need to bring their laptop, writing utensils and notebook.
